M.E.M.O. on a rock at sunset, the crashed spaceship smoking behind him
Picture of the day

Who is M.E.M.O.? Meet the robot companion in our pixel RPG Call Me Human

The first voice after the crash

When you start Call Me Human, your spaceship lies burning on an alien planet. You don't know how you got here. You don't even know who you are. Then the radio crackles:

> "Pilot? Can you hear me?"

That's M.E.M.O. And when you ask who's there, you get your first taste of his style right away:

> "Who's there? It's me, M.E.M.O.! Your robot! We've been stuck together in this tin can the whole trip, and you ask 'Who's there?'"

That's exactly how we wanted the game to begin. No long explanation, just someone who knows you, even though you don't know yourself. What happened to you is something you find out together, step by step.

A companion with a dry sense of humor

M.E.M.O. isn't a friendly assistant who spells out every little thing for you. He's more like the buddy who has sat next to you in the cockpit for years and can't resist a comment. When he finds out you've lost your memory, all he says is:

> "We crashed, and apparently your head took a hit too. Just great."

And this is what he has to say about your burning ship:

> "Nice column of smoke, by the way. Landing quietly is clearly not your thing."

We love characters like that in games. They make a strange, lonely world feel a little warmer right away, and you look forward to every time they check in.

Somewhere out there in the green

The catch: M.E.M.O. isn't with you. The crash threw him out of the ship, and now his body lies switched off somewhere out there. All he knows is:

> "All I can see here is green, and a lot of it."

Finding him is your first big goal on the planet. But first, M.E.M.O. has clear orders:

> "Put out the fire, or we'll never get off this rock. Then you can come looking for me."

What M.E.M.O. does for you

Until you find him, M.E.M.O. is the voice in your ear. Over the radio he tells you what matters right now, gives you hints about where to go next and sends you blueprints so you can start building something on the planet. Later on, he joins you on your quests in person.

One thing was important to us: he never buries you in text. He checks in when it fits, says what's up in a few words and then lets you get back to it. You're here to play and explore, not to read.
