Filling chests by hand: how loot gets into our pixel RPG
We decide what's inside every chest
Opening a chest is one of the best little moments in any RPG. What's inside? Was the detour worth it? We want that moment to feel right in Call Me Human, so we didn't want to leave your finds to pure chance. In our Terra Engine, the tool we use to build the world, we can now fill chests by hand. For every single chest, we choose what goes inside and how much of it.

How we fill a chest
First we put the chest in its spot, here right next to the wreck where your journey on Veyl begins. Then we open a window of its own: "What goes in the chest". It holds every item currently in the game, sorted into blueprints, weapons, armor, tools, materials, food, building supplies and found objects. One click on a picture drops it into the chest, plus and minus set the amount. Clicked the wrong thing? One key press undoes the last step.

In the video we walk you through the whole thing from start to finish:
Straight into the game
The best part: we don't have to wait to try it out. One click on "Play from here" drops us right into the game, exactly at that spot. On the way to the chest a shovel serpent gets in our way, then the lid opens, and inside is exactly what we picked: a fiber cloak, a hoe, a watering can, a few alien berries and a power mushroom that fills you up, heals one heart and gives you extra strength for a minute.

What this means for you
Every chest on Veyl should tell a small story. Next to the wreck you'll find what you need to survive after a crash. Farther out, in hidden places, it can be something special. Because we pack every chest ourselves, what's inside fits the place where you find it, and the detour is worth it.
