Chapter 1The Adventure and the World
01What makes CALL ME HUMAN special?
CALL ME HUMAN is more than a classic 2D adventure RPG. It's a journey through alien worlds and, at the same time, a journey to yourself.
You wake up on an unknown planet with no memory of who you are, what your name is, or where you come from. Only one longing is left: you want to go home.
But on your journey through mysterious planets, alien cultures, and countless adventures, something changes. You make friends, make choices, gain experience, and grow. Piece by piece, a new identity takes shape.
At its core, CALL ME HUMAN asks one question: Who are you really, and who can you become?
Along the way, you can look forward to a big adventure RPG that's meant to be packed with exploration, dungeons, secrets, crafting, house building, vehicles, and unique game mechanics. You repair your spaceship, travel between planets, and can revisit worlds you've already discovered.
CALL ME HUMAN combines the freedom of an adventure RPG with an emotional story about identity, change, and what home really means.
02How freely can I explore the world? Is there a set story?
CALL ME HUMAN combines a handwritten story with the freedom to experience your adventure your own way.
The main quest takes you across different planets, mysterious places, and new challenges. Especially early on, there's a clear path that helps you get to know the world. Off that path, secrets, hidden places, and adventures of their own are waiting for you.
If you're not in the mood for the next quest, you can build a home, farm, explore caves, gather resources, or craft items. You can return to places you've already visited and take your time.
CALL ME HUMAN gives you a direction, but you decide how you experience your journey.
03How big is the world, and how many hours can I play?
Your journey begins in the Kalastra star system. Seven large main planets are planned. On top of that, there are many more planets and places you can visit, including side planets for side quests and space stations.
Each main planet tells its own story and offers new landscapes, challenges, quests, and discoveries. You can return to worlds you've already visited, uncover secrets, and expand your home.
CALL ME HUMAN is meant to offer many hours of play. Exactly how many, we can't honestly say at this stage of development. We can easily picture adding more star systems later as DLCs, but we're not promising anything yet.
04Are the planets randomly generated or handcrafted?
Every world in CALL ME HUMAN is deliberately designed and reworked by hand. Quests, dungeons, and special places are made entirely by hand.
Every planet, every biome, every cave, and every special place should have its own atmosphere and identity. We care a lot about deliberately designed landscapes instead of interchangeable environments.
Our goal isn't to create as much world as possible, but worlds that feel unique and unforgettable.
05What makes the different planets unique?
Every planet is its own adventure, almost like a small game inside the big one!
The worlds don't just differ in landscapes and inhabitants. Each one has its own main story, special challenges, and new game mechanics. Sometimes you explore sprawling mines, other times boat trips or mysterious stories take center stage. For one of the worlds, we're also planning boats for the water and gliders you can use to fly between islands.
Over the course of your journey, you'll also discover new abilities, magic, and alien companions. All the worlds are parts of one big, connected story.
06How alive are the planets?
Every planet has its own day-night cycle, weather, and environmental hazards. Sandstorms can roll in on desert worlds, and extreme cold awaits you on ice planets. Elsewhere, you'll face heat, dangerous gases, and strange natural phenomena.
These conditions aren't just scenery: they can affect how you prepare and what gear you bring. The world lives with you.
07Is it worth exploring the planets off the main story?
Absolutely! Hidden treasures, caves, ruins, and unusual landscapes invite you to go your own way.
Sometimes you find something valuable, sometimes a new story, and sometimes just an amazing view that makes you think: "This is where I want to build my house."
Not every discovery needs a quest. Sometimes the place itself is the reward.
08Can I explore the planets freely, or do I have to unlock areas first?
Both. You can explore many regions freely, but some paths are closed at first. You might need a certain tool, a key, a new ability, or to finish a quest.
That makes it worth returning to planets you've already visited: a place that was out of reach before can open up a new adventure.
09Are there secrets and puzzles that span multiple planets?
Yes! The planets are connected through stories, quests, and mysteries. Maybe you'll find the key to a door on another world, or only understand what a ruin means many adventures later.
Some quests lead across main and side planets. With new items and abilities, you can also explore old areas again and reach places that were hidden before.
10Are there different alien peoples and cultures?
On the planets, you'll meet different peoples with their own villages, traditions, and stories. You get to know their inhabitants, make friends, and earn their trust.
And you're not just a visitor: you can become part of their stories yourself. Belonging, identity, and humanity are at the heart of CALL ME HUMAN.
11Can I make friends, build relationships, and influence the story?
Yes. You'll meet different communities and can build personal relationships with their inhabitants. Each people is meant to get its own reputation system: through your actions and quests, the trust they place in you grows, and new possibilities open up.
At the same time, your experiences shape your character's identity. The overarching story leads to a fixed finale.
12Can I fall in love in CALL ME HUMAN?
Yes. But we don't want to give too much away just yet.
Love plays a much bigger role in CALL ME HUMAN than you might expect at first. But it's more than a romantic relationship.
At its heart, the whole story is about love. What that really means is something you'll find out for yourself.
13Does CALL ME HUMAN have multiple endings or one big finale?
CALL ME HUMAN tells a connected, emotional story with a fixed ending.
Your big goal is to one day return home, to Earth. On the way there, you meet people and beings, have adventures, and discover more about yourself.
What happens when you reach your goal? And will you still be the same person? That's something we don't want to reveal.
14Can I keep playing after finishing the main story?
We're thinking about a dedicated endgame. Even after the finale, there should ideally be more chances to dive into the game's systems and go on adventures.
We can also easily picture developing bigger DLCs later with additional star systems, alien planets, and new stories. That's not a promise yet, though.
15Is CALL ME HUMAN worth playing more than once?
The main story has a fixed ending, but chances are you won't have found all the secrets on your first playthrough.
You can start a new adventure with a different playstyle and on a different difficulty. We're also planning an unlockable Hardcore mode with a special challenge, which you unlock by finishing the game on Survival.
Chapter 2Game Modes, Combat, and Your Character
16Do I have to fight a lot, or can I play at a relaxed pace?
You decide how challenging your adventure should be:
- Cozy: There is combat, but enemies are very weak. The focus is on exploration, adventure, house building, crafting, quests, and story.
- Adventure: A balanced mix of everything the game has to offer.
- Survival: Tougher combat, more dangerous enemies, and challenging bosses. Everything else in the game stays the same.
After finishing the game on Survival, you can unlock the special Hardcore mode (planned). We don't want to spoil what else is waiting for you there.
17How much survival is in CALL ME HUMAN?
Survival mechanics like hunger, stamina, and environmental conditions are there, but they shouldn't slow down the flow of the game.
In Cozy mode, they're more of a side note. In Adventure mode, they matter a bit more. Only in Survival mode do preparation, resources, and dangers really come into focus.
Survival should enrich the adventure, not become a chore.
18How does combat work?
CALL ME HUMAN goes for fluid action combat with different weapons, animations, and individual abilities. You can block attacks, dodge, and develop your own fighting style through talents and specializations (planned).
Whether it's melee, a bow, or later magically enhanced weapons with fire, frost, and other effects: what matters is that movement and combat feel precise and fun.
How often you want to fight also depends on your game mode.
19Can I develop my character my own way?
Yes. Your level, talent, and specialization system is meant to adapt to your playstyle (planned). For example, you can focus on melee, ranged combat, exploration, crafting, or farming.
Later on, certain quests let you unlock more abilities, including magic. On alien planets, there are also surprises waiting for you that we don't want to reveal yet.
20Can I customize my character's look?
Right at the start, you choose things like gender, hair, hair color, skin color, and eye color (planned).
In the game, you'll find all kinds of gear and armor pieces and put together your own look. Some pieces come with their own stats; certain combinations can unlock special set bonuses.
21What happens if I'm defeated in combat?
If you're defeated, the contents of your backpack stay behind where you fell. You can go back there and pick up your things. You keep the gear you have equipped.
- Cozy: 3 in-game days
- Adventure: 2 in-game days
- Survival: 1 in-game day
In Cozy, Adventure, and Survival, you can turn off item loss so you don't lose anything when you're defeated. Hardcore mode has strict rules.
22Is CALL ME HUMAN good for beginners?
Absolutely! Especially at the start, clear quests and helpful quest markers guide you. Your robot companion M.E.M.O. helps you along your journey.
You learn new game mechanics step by step. Different game modes make sure newcomers and experienced players alike find the difficulty that suits them.
Made by gamers for gamers, not by programmers for programmers.
23Do I have to sleep regularly?
No! You set your own daily rhythm. Nights can get more dangerous, but there are also special quests, creatures, and secrets that only show up after sunset.
Sleeping helps you recover and skip the night. If you'd rather explore all night long, you can do that too.
Chapter 3Crafting, Building, and Exploring
24Can I build my own house and design it freely?
Yes! You unlock blueprints through merchants, quests, and your reputation with the different peoples. Hundreds of different building shapes and sizes are planned.
The exteriors are deliberately premade so the houses blend in naturally with the designed worlds. Inside, you can put up your own walls, divide rooms, place furniture, and decorate however you like.
25Is there farming?
Yes, a big farming system is planned: you can grow plants, tend fields, harvest, and use the resources for crafting, quests, and progression.
Farming is closely tied to the other game systems, but it stays something you can get into at your own pace.
26Can I keep alien animals as companions and train them?
On the planets, you can win over different creatures as companions, train them, and develop their special abilities (planned).
Every creature has its own strengths. Some help with exploring, others can be especially useful in fights against certain enemies or bosses. You can only have one active companion at your side at a time.
The companion system is its own part of the adventure and brings together discovery, training, and growth.
27How deep is the crafting system?
Crafting is one of the most important core mechanics. You gather materials, discover blueprints, make tools, weapons, devices, and machines, and upgrade your gear.
Different workbenches and crafting stations offer different options. New materials and technologies open up more ways to build, explore, and adventure.
28Are there rare weapons, gear, and alien artifacts?
Yes, that's the plan! Special items, rare gear, and mysterious artifacts are meant to be among the most important progression systems.
You find them through quests, bosses, and exploration, in mines, caves, or ruins, or you craft them yourself. Many of them can be combined or upgraded and can unlock new properties and abilities.
29How do dungeons and mines work?
We're planning small, medium, large, and very large dungeons, plus mines for gathering resources. Some areas combine exploration, puzzles, combat, and hidden treasure.
Variety instead of endless grinding is our goal. Dungeons should be deliberately designed and feel like adventures of their own instead of repeating the same routine over and over.
30Can I trade with locals and fund my adventures?
Yes, that's the plan! The different planets are meant to have merchants and markets, plus their own interplanetary currency.
You can sell harvested goods, resources, items you've crafted, and valuable finds, and use the money to pay for gear, materials, blueprints, and your next adventures.
31Are there different vehicles?
Yes, the plans include buggies and unusual vehicles from alien civilizations, among others.
Exactly how the different ways of getting around differ is something we don't want to reveal yet. Getting around the world should hold some surprises too.
Chapter 4Travel and Progression
32Can I upgrade my spaceship and fly between planets myself?
Yes, here's the plan: your spaceship isn't just a way to get around, it's also your mobile home. Depending on the ship, you can make it bigger, design the interior, furnish rooms, and walk around inside.
The trip between two planets should feel like an adventure too: depending on the ship, you can switch between an inside and outside view, dodge celestial bodies, visit space stations, and run into unexpected events, like space pirates.
CALL ME HUMAN is still an adventure RPG, though, and won't become a complex space sim.
33Can I enjoy CALL ME HUMAN in short sessions?
Yes! Whether it's about 20 minutes or several hours: many tasks and adventures are meant to be split into manageable chunks.
That way, you can quickly gather resources, finish a quest, or keep working on your house. Thanks to the save system, you can easily take a break from your session.
And sometimes "just one more cave" turns into a long night of adventure all on its own.
34Can I save at any time?
In CALL ME HUMAN, you don't have to worry about your progress. The game saves automatically when you finish a quest, enter a new area, or something important happens, and at regular intervals in between. You can also save manually from the game menu at any time, just not in the middle of a fight or during special story moments.
Beds have a role of their own: that's where you sleep, recover your strength, skip the night, and set where you wake up after a defeat. Sleeping also saves your game.
With Steam Cloud, you should be able to start on PC and keep playing on the Steam Deck. That way, even after a quick session, you can stop whenever you want without losing anything.
35Can I create multiple save files and characters?
Yes! You can create several independent save files and run different adventures in parallel, for example a relaxed game in Cozy mode and a second playthrough in Survival mode.
Each save file has its own progress and character.
36Are there achievements and special challenges?
Yes, along with Steam achievements, we're planning a reputation system with the different peoples, plus special challenges and surprises for curious players.
Exactly which secrets and rewards are waiting for you is something we don't want to reveal yet.
Chapter 5Atmosphere and Accessibility
37What role do music and sound design play?
Music is more than background, it carries the emotions of the adventure.
Each planet is meant to get its own musical identity and soundscape. Marko, founder of Brainwave3D, brings his many years of experience as a music producer and his own recording studio to the project.
A dynamic music system is meant to react to what's happening in the game: in caves, in danger, or in combat, the atmosphere shifts; peaceful moments get a calmer sound.
38Can I play CALL ME HUMAN entirely with a controller?
Yes! CALL ME HUMAN is being developed from the start with a focus on controllers and handhelds like the Steam Deck.
Exploring, combat, inventory, crafting, and house building are all meant to work comfortably with a controller. On PC, you can just as well play with mouse and keyboard.
39What age group is CALL ME HUMAN for?
CALL ME HUMAN is meant to be a family-friendly adventure for younger and adult players. The pixel art and accessible game modes make it easy to get into, while the story and puzzles should appeal to older players too.
There's combat against alien creatures, but no brutal violence is planned. Some reading skills help, since dialogue and quests are part of the story.
An official age rating is still pending.
40What languages will CALL ME HUMAN be available in?
CALL ME HUMAN is being developed for an international audience. German, English, and other major world languages are planned for launch.
Because the story plays such a central role, we want as many players as possible to experience the dialogue and adventures in their own language. The exact list of languages will be announced later.
Chapter 6Development, Release, and Community
41Who is making CALL ME HUMAN, and how is it funded?
CALL ME HUMAN is made by a small independent team around Tini and Marko, supported by developers, designers, and playtesters.
The team already has experience in software development, including building the Brainwave3D app. Funding is meant to come mainly through Kickstarter and the community.
42Is CALL ME HUMAN made with artificial intelligence?
CALL ME HUMAN is an independently developed indie game built with our Terra Engine: our own tools based on the Godot Engine.
We use AI deliberately as a tool, for programming and for art drafts that we pick and rework. The ideas, the world, the story, and all the decisions come from us. We care a lot about individual, lovingly crafted worlds where every detail has its place.
CALL ME HUMAN is not an automatically generated game. Behind the worlds, the stories, and the gameplay are our own ideas, our own decisions, and countless hours of development work.
For us, what counts isn't how fast a first idea comes together, but how much personality, creativity, and attention to detail ends up in the finished game.
43How far along is development?
CALL ME HUMAN has long been more than an idea on paper.
As of late October 2026, our Terra Engine, our own tools based on the Godot Engine, is largely in place as the technical foundation; the core systems and game mechanics already work. Right now, we're building the first playable area on the desert planet Veyl.
Current development goals:
- December 2026: First fully playable stage.
- January 2027: First playable demo.
These dates are planning targets and may change. We document our progress on our developer blog.
44When is CALL ME HUMAN coming out, and on which platforms?
CALL ME HUMAN is being developed with a special focus on Steam Deck, PC, and controller support. The first release is planned on Steam for PC. We're also aiming to support Linux and macOS.
If the game does well, we'd like to look into console ports later, especially for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
There's no final release date yet.
45Can I play CALL ME HUMAN before release and help shape it?
That's the plan! We're aiming for a first publicly available version in Q1 or Q2 2027. We're planning a demo followed by an alpha phase where we gather feedback from the community.
Feedback on game mechanics, areas, planets, and updates is meant to help guide further development. Our creative vision stays the common thread. We'll announce specific dates and how to get access as soon as they're set.
46Will CALL ME HUMAN keep getting updates after release?
Yes. We want to support CALL ME HUMAN for the long haul with optimizations, patches, improvements, and new adventures.
Along with free updates, we're planning bigger DLCs with additional star systems, alien planets, and stories. We also want to take community feedback into account.
We see CALL ME HUMAN as a living organism that grows with its players.
47Are there microtransactions or paid extra content?
CALL ME HUMAN is planned as a complete, buy-once game. Classic microtransactions, premium currencies, and paid gameplay advantages are not planned.
For people who'd like to give the development extra support, we're planning Kickstarter and supporter packs with cosmetic extras like decorations, spaceship designs, or optional bonus locations that aren't meant to give any gameplay advantage.
After release, we also want to keep improving the game with free updates. Bigger additional star systems and stories are planned as possible paid DLCs. Whether more cosmetic supporter packs will be offered later is still open.
48How much will CALL ME HUMAN cost?
CALL ME HUMAN is planned as a classic buy-to-play game with a one-time price and no required subscription. The final price hasn't been set yet.
For backers, we're planning different Kickstarter packs, from smaller pledges up to bigger support tiers with special extras.
49Can I follow the development?
Yes, even daily! On our dev log, we post behind-the-scenes looks at development several times a day.
We also show progress, worlds, ideas, and challenges on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
Our motto: By gamers for gamers. We don't just talk about tech, we mostly talk about the adventures being made for players.
50Can I submit my own ideas or help as a playtester?
We'd love that! In our feedback area, you can submit suggestions, vote on ideas, and report bugs.
If you'd like to apply as a playtester, you can use our contact form.
We can't implement every suggestion, but we want to actively take our community's wishes and experiences into account.
51Can I play CALL ME HUMAN solo or with friends?
CALL ME HUMAN is being developed as a single-player adventure. The focus is on your personal journey, the story, and the freedom to discover the worlds at your own pace.
We're not ruling out a co-op mode in the long run. Right now, though, it's not promised or firmly planned.
