Sea cliffs and a chest at the wreck
All the way to the edge of the world
A few days ago we showed you the four coasts of Veyl as sketches. This morning we started up the game and walked them ourselves, not as pictures this time, but in the actual game.
In the north the land ends at a ledge of red rock. Beyond it the view opens onto a wide steppe with a river, mesas and snowy peaks far in the distance. You can't cross over, but you can see that the world keeps going out there.
Cliffs, sea and surf

In the south a cliff drops two levels into a turquoise sea, surf breaks at its base and rock spires stand out in the water. To the west and east the coastline steps in and out, so no edge looks the same. While walking along it we noticed that in some spots the surf was floating in open water. Now it only foams where the rock actually meets the sea.
We're not fully happy yet: where a cliff spans two levels, you can still see a line across the middle. We're working on that right now, the walls should run down to the water in one piece.
Stones and plants at the foot of the cliffs

A cliff that just meets the ground with a hard line looks like a paper cutout. So grass and shrubs now grow along the base of our cliffs, with stones and rubble in between. While building the world we can set how dense it gets, reroll it until it looks natural, or erase single spots again.
A chest at the wreck
Right where your adventure begins, at the wreck, there's now a chest. We decide what goes into a chest with a window of its own: every item sorted by type, blueprints, tools, materials, food. One click puts something in, plus and minus set the amount.

And one small fix: in the window where you create your hero, "Start the adventure" now works right away. Before, you had to change something first before you could set off.
What's next
We want to use the same window soon to hide items anywhere in the world, behind a rock or in tall grass, and to decide what an enemy drops when you defeat it. If you love poking into every corner, this one's for you.
See you soon,
