What happened today

Our hero strikes, blocks and gets dressed

Today was a testing day, and we had a blast. We played through all of the hero's animations: the third swing, blocking, walking with a raised guard, armor on and off, and the cape that now swings along properly. While climbing, the helmet finally sits on the head instead of next to it. We touched up a few pixels on the hand and the trousers until you can't spot them anymore. Little things like these decide whether a hero feels alive.

Up the stairs, up the walls

The slopes in the starting area now have real stairs, from every side, straight and diagonal, blending softly into the grass. Climbing is in, too: on rock faces and ropes our hero pulls up. You won't just walk around the world anymore, you can climb up and down it.

Rocks that breathe, lava that lives

A rock with breathing veins

The rocks in the starting area stand still, but their veins pulse softly. We also designed lava and liquids: fissures, glowing edges and little sparks drifting upward. It isn't finished, this is our test run, and we're still polishing it.

Walking behind the rock

While testing, Marko noticed our hero sliding to the front of some rocks even though they were walking behind them. That's fixed: if you walk behind a rock arch, you stay behind it.

What we got done

The backpack now has ten slots, and locked slots are clearly marked. The sword lies on the ground in the starting area. You pick it up, get the "equipped" message and see it right in your combat bar. You can drag a piece of armor back into the backpack. All in all the world feels more alive than it did yesterday.

What's next

From now on we work differently: in milestones instead of big stages, kept small, so less breaks and there's more time for polish. The starting area has to be really good first, and only then does more get added.
